MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY PATROL IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR CADET CLASS 69

JACKSON, Miss. – After the recent addition of 29 new troopers, The Mississippi Highway Patrol announces the start of the application process for Cadet Class 69. This class will be the eighth patrol school held since 2018.

This class is scheduled to begin in January 2025 and will last approximately 17 weeks, with training conducted at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi. Effective July 1, 2024, the base salary for an MHP Trooper will be $54,000.00, with the possibility to earn more through Federal Overtime Details and participation in one of MHP’s many special duty teams, including Special Operations Group, Motor Unit, Honor Guard, Mounted Unit and more.

I encourage anyone interested in law enforcement to consider answering the call to become a state trooper and apply for Cadet Class 69.”

The minimum qualifications for Cadet Class 69 are as follows:

1. Must be 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.

2. Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Mississippi at the time of appointment.

3. Must have a valid driver’s license.

Timeline for the application process for Cadet Class 69:

- August 16 – Deadline for applications

- September 6-8- PT Test, Physical

- October 5-6 - Computerized Testing

- November 12-15 – Interviews

- December 9-18 – Polygraph, Psychological Testing, Fingerprinting

- January 3, 2025 – Orientation
