Poplarville - The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors met Monday to discuss various matters within the county.

Board members first heard from Kay Miller on behalf of the Exodus Project 21, which is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 created to facilitate an uninterrupted path from jail or rehab release to full societal re-entry complete with sobriety, health, housing, transportation, and employment for addicts seeking recovery and works to wage a war against the perils of substance abuse. The organization uses a faith-based approach to bridge all the gaps that recovering addicts experience that result in recidivism.

Miller who explained what differentiates the program from other drug rehabilitation programs, and expressed the program's desire for county funding and support.  It was determined by the board that no action would be taken at the exact moment, they will work towards it in the future.

Also during the meeting, the Supervisors approved the following plumbing standard update for Pearl River County that will become effective July1.

1.       All newly installed incoming water service lines on any residential or commercial new slab construction in Pearl River County shall be buried underground and stubbed out through the building slab, into the wall at the point of entry.

2.       A full-port shut-off valve shall be installed in a residential valve box, at or near the point of entry for all new service connections in Pearl River County.

3.       Surface-mounted or above-grade water line entries through exterior walls of on slab houses, shall no longer be allowed in residential or commercial construction in Pearl River County.
