Two suspects identified in stabbing death of local man
Major Marc Ogden, Chief Investigator for the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department (PRCSD) said information collected during the investigation of the stabbing death of 68 year old Gary Hill Breeland of 39 Harry Sones Road has led to the identification of two suspects.
Ogden said the two suspects are Joe Davis, age 31, and Thomas Alsobrooks Sr. age 55.
According to Ogden, before Breeland died at his residence, he was able to give a family relative the name ‘Joe’. With that information, the investigation was able to identify Joe Davis as a person of interest in the death of Breeland. Further investigation brought forth information that Davis was staying in a motel in the Bogalusa area.
Investigators were able to locate Davis and Alsobrooks at the motel in the same room. Alsobrooks appeared to have been shot in the back which linked to evidence provided by Breeland’s neighbor who told investigators they had heard gunshots on Wednesday at about the same time the stabbing took place.
After interviewing Davis, investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest and charged him with second degree murder. A subsequent warrant for second degree murder on Alsobrooks, who is awaiting extradition from Bogalusa (LA) Police Department, was obtained. Ogden stated PRCSD will wait to question Alsobrooks in hopes of determining a motive in the murder of Breeland.
