Two injured after being struck by Amtrak train
Monday morning at 8:38 AM, deputies from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of pedestrians being struck by a train near the Mississippi/Louisiana line.

Major Joe Quave stated that a male and a female were walking on the railroad bridge crossing the Pearl River at the Mississippi and Louisiana State line. The two victims were unable to get clear of an approaching Amtrak passenger train and both were struck.
Quave said that when deputies from both Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, they were able to locate the female victim. She was placed on a medical helicopter and airlifted to LSU Hospital in New Orleans with very severe injuries according to Quave.
The male victim has not been located at the time Quave provided the report, but rescue workers have been actively searching the East Pearl River and the surrounding area in hopes of finding the male victim.
