Two arrested in Sunday shooting on Richard Street

On Sunday night, Picayune Police Department officers responded to a call reporting gunshots being fired in the area of Richard Street.


Captain Rhonda Johnson said that upon arrival at the scene, at approximately 8:11 p.m., officers discovered that one person had been shot several times. Johnson said that after an initial investigation, one suspect was arrested.


The suspect, identified as Tyler Raymond, age 23, of Richard Street, Picayune, MS, was charged with Shooting Into An Occupied Dwelling and Aggravated Assault on the early hours of November 16th (Monday).


Captain Johnson said the victim was transported to Highland Community Hospital on Sunday evening, received treatment and was stabilized, and was then airlifted to University Hospital in New Orleans. Johnson stated that the victim was listed in serious, but stable condition.


On Monday afternoon, Johnson said, that through further investigation, it was determined that a second suspect, identified as Montrell Turner, age 20, of Rosa Street, Picayune, MS, had shot the victim. Turner was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder.



Captain Johnson said this case is an ongoing investigation and more arrests could be made in connection with the events related to the shots fired at the scene.
