Strong first half gives Picayune a 28-7 win over Jefferson Davis County

Bassfield—The Picayune Maroon Tide scored on its first three possessions in posting a 28-7 win over the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars at Howard Willoughby Field.
The Maroon Tide defense set the tone early forcing the Jaguars into punts on their first three possessions. Picayune’s offense answered with three scores.
Donte Dowdell scored on a two yard run with 7:15 left in the first quarter, Darrell Smith (pictured) scored on a 12 yard run with 3:22 left in the quarter, and Chris Davis raced in from 37 yards out with 7:06 left in the half.
Picayune scored on the first possession of the third quarter on a 60 yard touchdown pass from Brady Robertson to Smith.
JDC scored on a 33 yard run by Nick Thompson with 2:42 left in the third quarter.
Dowdell rushed for over 100 yards for the second game in a row finishing with 113 yards on 14 carries. Robertson completed 2 of 3 passes for 73 yards.
Picayune (2-0) will play at home on Friday hosting the Gulfport Admirals.
