Picayune sweeps Long Beach; Blue Devils fall to Hattiesburg
Girls…Picayune 34 Long Beach 31
Picayune’s Girls rallied from a six point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat Long Beach 34-31. Deniya Freeman had 18 points and Kylah Walker added 12 points for the Maroon Tide (4-15, 1-2) at Picayune’s Kelly Wise Gymnasium.
Boys…Picayune 65 Long Beach 57
In the boys game, Picayune led 26-17 at the half and went on to beat Long Beach 65-57. Andrew Willis led the way with 14 points. Sergio Williams had 12 points and Derai Jones added 11 points for the Maroon Tide (10-10, 2-1).
Boys…Hattiesburg 76 Pearl River Central 57
In Carriere, the Blue Devil Boys were down 17-4 in the early minutes, but rallied to within 30-29 at the half . Hattiesburg’s Dandy Dozen guard Cameron Brown scored 16 of his 25 points in the third quarter to give the Tigers a 53-38 lead at the end of the third quarter. Caden Thompson and Kelton Seal each had 14 points for PRC (13-7, 0-3).
Girls…Hattiesburg 54 Pearl River Central 21
Payton Lee scored 10 points for the Blue Devils (12-7, 2-1).
Pearl River Central hosts Poplarville on Tuesday and will play at Picayune on Friday.
Picayune will play Clinton in the MLK Classic in Jackson on Monday before hosting PRC on Friday.
