Picayune, Pearl River Central split basketball games

Carriere—Pearl River Central and Picayune basketball teams played in front of a standing room only crowd on Friday night in Carriere and the teams split their games with Pearl River Central (PRC) winning the girls game 36-26 while Picayune took the boys game 57-49.

Peyton Lee scored 10 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Pearl River Central Blue. PRC led 5-4 after the first quarter, 13-10 at the half, and 22-14 after three quarters. Elana Hawthorne added 11 points for PRC (11-6, 2-0). Sarah Stockstill led Picayune (3-15, 0-2) with 10 points..

Sergio Willliams had 18 points and Derai Jones scored 17 points to lead Picayune to the win in the boys game. PRC lead 15-13 after the first quarter and the game was tied 26-26 at the half and 37-37 after three quarters.


Picayune’s Seth Stockstill scored 7 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter and Williams also had 7 of his points in the final stanza for the Maroon Tide (9-10, 1-1).


Tyson Terell led the Blue Devils (12-6, 0-2) with 13 points and Caden Thompson added 11 points


Pearl River Central will host Poplarville on Tuesday and Hattiesburg on Friday.


Picayune’s next game will be at home on Friday versus Long Beach.
