Poplarville, MS-- District Attorney Hal Kittrell announces that on November 29, 2023, Joshua Lowry Carr, 42, of Picayune, Mississippi was convicted of Three (3) Counts of Touching a Child for Lustful Purposes and One (1) Count of Sexual Battery, in the Circuit Court of Pearl River County, Mississippi, before Judge Brad Touchstone.
The case comes from a report of sexual abuse of three minor children that were molested by Carr for years before disclosing their abuser’s actions in 2021. Carr is set to be sentenced in Poplarville, Mississippi on December 14, 2023.
He faces up to fifteen years on each Count of Touching a Child for Lustful Purposes and up to life for Sexual Battery. In total, Carr could be sentenced to life plus forty-five (45) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections to be served day-for-day without the possibility of parole. Carr must register as a sex offender upon his release.
District Attorney Hal Kittrell stated, “Joshua Carr has lived under the radar as a child predator for years. His victims have endured years of sexual abuse that they were trained to believe was normal behavior. This conviction delivers justice to his victims and ensures that he will never again hurt a child. We appreciate the work of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office on this case.”
