Picayune cruises past Pearl River Central 49-7

Carriere—Picayune scored on every possession in the first half and added a special team’s touchdown on its way to a 49-7 win over Pearl River Central at Kenneth L. Hendrix Stadium in the Region 4-5A opener for both teams.

Dante Dowdell scored on runs of 4, 44, and 46 yards accumulating 210 yards on 8 rushes. Darnell Smith had touchdown runs of 3 and 1 yards and Chris Davis returned a punt 46 yards for a touchdown.

In the third quarter, Niquis Ratcliff raced 56 yards for a touchdown for Picayune.

Brady Robertson completed 3 of 5 passes for 41 yards.

Morgan Craft was perfect on the point after touchdowns for Picayune.

Pearl River Central scored late in fourth quarter on a 73 pass from Qorday Russell to Tristian Williams.

Picayune (5-0, 1-0) travels to Vancleave on Friday.
