Picayune celebrates homecoming with 42-13 win over Long Beach

Picayune-Picayune held Long Beach scoreless in the second half to defeat the Bearcats 42-13 on homecoming night at Lee-Triplett Stadium. Lauren Pfadenhauer was crowned Homecoming Queen in the pregame ceremonies.

Long Beach D’Iiljah Robinson returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown.
Picayune responded with a 13 play 67 yard drive using 7 minutes off the clock to tie the game on Dorian Robinson’s 9 yard touchdown run. Morgan Craft’s extra point made it 7-7 with 4:25 left in the quarter.

Picayune forced a Long Beach punt and put together a 13 play 78 yard drive that took 5:52 off the clock. Robinson scored this time from 4 yards out and Craft’s point after made it 14-7 with 8:45 left in the second quarter.

Austin Samples (2) looks for yardage as Darnell Smith (41), Isaac Hickman (6), and Garrett Hunter (60) lead the way.
The Bearcats scored two plays after the ensuing kickoff on a 55 yard run by Ahjiren Brooks but they missed the extra point.
Picayune scored on its next possession on a 31 yard run by Robinson and Craft kicked the extra point for a 21-13 lead with 4:18 left.
The Maroon Tide scored three times in the second half to pull away.
On the opening possession of the third quarter, Isaac Hickman scored on a 1 yard quarterback sneak (9:40 left in the 3rd quarter) that was setup a 55 yard run by Austin Samples.

Dante Dowdell (pictured above) scored on a 9 yard run (6:00 left in the 3rd quarter) and Noah Carter found pay dirt from 5 yards out (3:57 left in the game) to close out the scoring.
Samples led the Maroon Tide with 137 yards on 18 carries and Robinson added 115 yards on 14 rushes.
Picayune (7-0, 4-0) will play at Pearl River Central on Friday.
