Dylan Dunaway -PRCC Sports Information Director

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Put on your boots and grab your hat, the Pearl River Community College rodeo is headed back to Poplarville. The three-day event at the Pearl River County Fairgrounds will take place Thursday through Saturday. General admission tickets are $10. Kids 10 and under get in free, as do PRCC faculty, staff and students with a valid school ID.

Last season, PRCC's rodeo was named the Ozark Region Rodeo of the Year and Wildcat coach Frank Graves is excited to defend that title.

"There's a lot of excitement around here this week. Last year was special to be named the rodeo of the year," Graves said. "We feel like it is going to be even bigger this year. We'd love to have everyone come out and support."

Joining the Pearl River rodeo team in Poplarville will be other members of the Ozark Region which include UT-Martin, Missouri Valley, Southern Arkansas, West Alabama, Three Rivers, Northwest, East Mississippi, Murray State and more.

The events at this year's rodeo include bareback riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, goat tying, saddle bronc riding, bull riding and more.

New to the rodeo this year will be the addition of Buddy the Bull as well as rodeo entertainer Kyle Lamon.

If you can't make it out, the rodeo will once again be livestreamed at PRCCMedia.com/Maroon, courtesy of Diamond Productions.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS

Pearl River is fresh off a solid appearance in the East Mississippi Rodeo which was highlighted by first and second-place finishes in steer wrestling for Evan Bourdon (Sheridan, Ind.) and Kason Davis (Poplarville).

Graves likes the way that his team has performed so far this season and feels that their best rodeos are still to come.

"I think we've done pretty good so far this year," Graves said. "I still think that we have some room to grow and can finish strong. We're excited for the rest of the season."
