Local man arrested after apparently shooting another man
Picayune Police Assistant Chief Dustin Moeller said that on June 20, at approximately 7:00 p.m, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of 8th Avenue in reference to an aggravated assault that had just occurred inside the city limits on Clark Street.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a black male lying in the driveway of the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Witnesses stated that the victim and his girlfriend were walking down Clark Street when a dark colored SUV pulled up, a black male exited the vehicle and began to fight the victim.
Moeller said that at some point during the fight, the victim sustained a gunshot to his leg. AAA Ambulance Service was called to the scene and the victim was transported to Forrest General Hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Moeller said the suspect in this case, J.W. Ross Magee, was arrested on June 22 by detectives and transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated for Aggravated Assault.
