B – A – L – D - E – R – D – A – S – H… Bal-der-dash…. Balderdash.
That was the word 6th grader Cailyn Burge correctly spelled to win the County’s Spelling Bee. Miss Burge successfully made her way through the other contestants, eventually besting an 8th grader to take the title.
Cailyn will now move on to the State Spelling Bee next month.

Also during the meeting, the District’s teachers of the year were announced.

· Southside Upper, Caroline Macdonald
· Westside, Amy Butler
· Picayune Jr. High, Kerri Schneider
· Picayune Memorial High, Jessica Waterman
And this years overall District Teacher of the Year is Southside Upper’s Caroline Macdonald.

The Principals from the Schools had nothing but glowing remarks for each of their teachers and were joined by the Board in congratulating them for a job well done.
