Fatal crash claims life of 17 year old from Carriere

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 11 in Pearl River County.

A 2002 Chevrolet passenger vehicle driven by 83-year-old Dorothy Smith of Poplarville, MS, and a 2006 Toyota Scion driven by 17-year-old Justin Schielder of Carriere, MS, traveled south on Highway 11 when both vehicles collided with a 2014 Dodge Ram Pickup driven by 41-year-old Ruben Ventura, of Carriere, MS, that crossed the center line traveling north on Highway 11.

Justin Schielder received fatal injuries from the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
