As temperatures soared into the mid-90s Tuesday morning in Picayune, a large crowd gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the dedication of the newly completed Justice Center.

The facility will house the Picayune Police Department and the Municipal Courthouse. The new building is located at the intersection of Wildwood Drive and Highland Parkway.

Keynote Speaker, Congressman Mike

Ezell, a former Sheriff and police officer himself, stated his love for the law enforcement community and blasted the de-fund police movement, asking “who are you going to call?”

Mayor Jim Luke spoke of public safety being his number one priority and said that this new facility has been 22 years in the making.  He also mentioned a person who he felt was instrumental in stating the need for this new facility.

Police Chief Joe Quave thanked the 35 officers of his department for their commitment to our community in reducing overall crime and shared his personal feelings on the new home for the Picayune Police Department and Municipal Court.

The Municipal Courtroom is shown below.
