Board of Supervisors handles routine business during meeting

The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors met on Monday and handled a long list of normal business items as well as voting to bring back a long-time county employee who recently retired.

Albert Lee, who recently retired as the county’s Fire Marshall, was approved to return to service to the county as Deputy Coroner by request of Coroner Derek Turnage.

Also during the meeting, the board approved a request to continue an interlocal agreement between the county’s Tax Assessor Gary Beech’s office and the City of Picayune whereby the county Tax Assessor’s office will continue to collect ad valorem taxes for the City of Picayune and the county will collect a commission of 5 percent.


The board also approved the agreement with Poplarville and in that agreement, the Tax Assessor's office will withhold two percent of the gross amount collected for services delivered in the collection of ad valorem and personal property assessments.
