Blue Devils get series sweep with 12-1 win at Brookhaven

Brookhaven—The Pearl River Central Blue Devils took charge early scoring 4 runs in the top of the first and went on to win 12-1 over Brookhaven in Game 2 at Moyer Field.

Jacob Stockstill drove in three runs while Cameron Brunson, Caiden Shoemake, and Jared Dickens drove in 2 runs each. Junior RHP Landen Droddy pitched the first 4 innings and freshman RHP Jacob Johnson pitched the last two inns.

Head Coach Neil Walther was happy to see his team focus after a lackadaisical win the night before.

“We were focused. We had some really good at bats early running some counts deep. You look at the scoreboard and we got outhit, but that was due to use earning walks and them hitting our batters. We ran the bases well tonight.”

Walther was very pleased with his pitchers.

“Landen did a great job. Once he got to around 66 pitches, at that point, he kind of levels off. And Jacob Johnson has thrown the ball as well as anybody the past few weeks for us. He really sinks the ball. And he’s just 14 years old,” Walther added.

The Blue Devils, now 28-2 overall, will host Pascagoula in Game 1 Thursday at Carriere of a best of three series.

WRJW 1320 AM and wrjwradio.com coverage will continue with Tyler Johnson on the call.
