Another annual public event cancelled due to COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has now cancelled another annual event that had become a favorite of both Louisiana and Mississippi resident. The Washington Parish Fair Association announced earlier this week that annual free fair will be canceled in 2020. The fair had been scheduled for Oct. 21-25.

In a release posted on their face book page, the Washington Parish Fair Officers, Board of Directors and Committee Chairmen stated "We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation and its impact on our community and fair. The planning of the fair takes advance preparation coordinating numerous vendors, scheduling entertainment and hosting large crowds made up of both locals and guests from all over the country. It is with deep sadness that we have made the decision to cancel the 109th Washington Parish Fair for 2020."
Late last week, the Wooden Boat Festival, held annually on the banks of the Tchefuncte (chuh-funk-cha) River in Madisonville, annually cancelled, the Picayune Main Street Street Festival held in April, and the WRJW Senior Fair and Expo, held every June.
All have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
