Wildcats cruise past Southwest to clinch South division women's title
SUMMIT, Miss. — The Pearl River Wildcats ended their regular season on a high note Saturday when they soundly defeated the Southwest Bears 3-0.
The win was extra special as it clinched the MACJC South Division title for the Wildcats in head coach Henrik Madsen's first season.
"I thought the girls came out focused and they knew what we had to do to get the win," head coach Henrik Madsen said.
"I'm really proud of the girls. Obviously it means a lot to me but I think it means more for the girls especially the sophomores. I'm very happy for them."
Maddie Beets (Long Beach) got the scoring started early in the contest when she put the Wildcats up 1-0 in the 12th minute of the contest.
Jade Shaw (Carriere; Pearl River Central) extended the Wildcat lead with a goal in the 23rd minute to make it a 2-0 game.
The last goal of the game came from Shelby Harrington (Oak Grove) in the 43rd minute to give the Wildcats the 3-0 lead right before halftime.
