Picayune rolls past Hattiesburg 48-15

Hattiesburg—Cameron Thomas scored three touchdowns to lead Picayune to a 48-15 win over the Hattiesburg Tigers at D.I. Patrick Stadium.

Thomas scored his first TD on the Maroon Tide’s second play on offense from 48 yards out and he added another on Picayune’s second possession from 3 yards out.

The second possession was setup when Elijah Jenkins' tip of a Tiger pass attempt was intercepted by Isaac Hickman at the Tigers’ 36.

Hattiesburg got on the scoreboard on their next offensive possession on a 3 yard run by Tomacio Robinson on the first play of the second quarter.

Kade Turnage busted loose for a 30 yard touchdown run with 4:37 left in the quarter for a 21-6 lead.

Picayune scored on the opening possession of the third quarter on a 12 play 54 yard drive using 6 mins and 8 seconds of clock with Jakail Myers scoring on a 3 yard run.

After Rhyen Brisco scored a touchdown for Hattiesburg with 2:50 left in the third quarter, Thomas scored this third touchdown of the game, his 20th rushing of the season, on a 54 sprint around right end to put the Maroon Tide up 34-12 after the Austin Samples point after with 2:01 left in.

Samples added a 40 yard touchdown run with 11:05 left in the game and Nick Doane scampered in from 24 yards out to close out the Picayune scoring.

Kendyl Terrell kicked a 30 yard field goal for the Tigers with 7:56 left.

Thomas finished with 216 yards on 18 carries.

Picayune (7-0, 3-0) will be at Long Beach on Friday.
