PMHS students recognized for FCCLA awards
Members of the Picayune School Board were introduced to two star students during Tuesday's meeting of the Board of Trustees. Their teacher, Mrs. Sandra Spanks, spoke highly of her students and the great learning experience the conference was for everyone.
The young women took part in the FCCLA or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, leadership conference in Anaheim, California. The two won silver and bronze on the State level in Jackson and the went on to the Nationals in Anaheim.
Standing (L-R): Mrs. Spanks, DeShondria Jefferson, and Mkenzie Smith
Mkenzie Smith brought home Gold and DeShondria Jefferson received a Bronze award for their efforts. It cost $1,350 per person for the trip to Anaheim in which a part was financed by a fundraiser, but the majority was out of pocket.
Mkenzie addressed the board and asked them for help with funding for future students in order for them to take part in the experience.
Congratulations to Mkenzie Smith and DeShondria Jefferson, for their accomplishments and for representing the best of the Picayune School District.
