Picayune Fire Department completes LPG fire training

The Picayune Fire Department (PFD) participated in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) training for two days. The course was conducted by the Mississippi Fire Academy and helped prepare fire fighters for situations that may be encountered during the transportation of LPG or at fixed facilities where LPG may be stored.

On Monday, the fire fighters went through classroom training at the Picayune Fire Station # 1 on Adcox Road to prepare for the live fire / hands on training. The classroom training included the study of the chemical and physical properties as well as proper tactical procedures to use in the event of an uncontrolled release or fire.

On Tuesday evening shortly after sunset, the live fire / hands on training was conducted in a remote parking lot in the rear of the Friendship Park area.

Below, Picayune Fire Chief Keith Brown describes part of the hands on training. There are also videos of other live training sessions as well as PFD fire fighter Joey Reynolds providing his feedback on the two days of training.
