Picayune's Samuel Hickman announces candidacy for 4th congressional district seat
Picayune, MS—Monday, August 26th, 2019—Samuel Hickman of Picayune, former congressional staffer, publicly declares his candidacy for the fourth Congressional District of Mississippi at Jack Reed Park in Downtown Picayune. This is an event celebrating democracy and a call to all generations to take action and be involved in the process of democracy in the current and upcoming elections.
Hickman has spent the last two years working in Washington, D.C. behind the scenes for Congressman Trent Kelly. Hickman started out as Staff Assistant and quickly moved up the ranks to Legislative Assistant. Through his time as an LA, he gained firsthand experience on issues such as abortion, immigration, the Second Amendment, and he contributed to legislation that was introduced on the House floor.
“I am humbled and honored to announce my candidacy for the fourth Congressional District of Mississippi. I have a love not only for South Mississippi but for this great Nation and want to do everything in my power to leave this a better place for generations to come. It is time to look at some of our old problems with new eyes to see new solutions. I am a conservative who wants to fight for economic growth in this area. I believe that one of our strongest suits is our people and that big government will never be their ally. It is important to bring pro-active solutions to the table rather than reactive precautions. Long-standing battles can be won by looking at problems from a different angle.”
Hickman is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He is one of eleven brothers and comes from a family that believes in serving your fellow man.
“All my life I’ve been taught to make my world better by serving those around me and I want to serve you in Congress. I believe my time as a Congressional Staffer has given the experience and insight needed to be an effective and productive member of the House of Representatives. I have an up-close understanding and knowledge of how the system works and believe I can use that to better South Mississippi.”
If elected, Hickman will be the youngest Congressman in the modern era.
“I look forward to meeting everyone in our district and inspiring all generations to stand alongside each other to make our world better.”
