Lady Blue Devils come up short in 8-5 loss at Wayne County
Waynesboro--The Pearl River Central Lady Blue Devils season ended with an 8-5 road loss at Wayne County in Game 2 of their playoff series. Wayne County won Game 1 on Saturday by a score of 15-8 in Carriere.
Wayne County scored three unearned runs in the first inning and over the next four innings would add four more runs on a combination of timely hitting, swift base running, and three PRC throwing errors to build a 7-0 lead.
PRC finally broke through scoring four runs in the top of the fourth. RBI singles by Taylor Kauzlarich, Harlee Davis, and Jaz Robertson got the Blue Devils to within 7-4.
The Lady Blue Devils (19-12) did not go away without making some noise. PRC scored a run and brought the tying run to the plate, but a double play by Wayne County ended the game.

Jayden Davis is out on a close play at first base in the first inning.
Head Coach Tony Labella summed up the loss.
“We had our chances to make breaks, but did not get it done. But I’m very proud of this team, especially to these seniors who accomplished so much for this program since the seventh grade.”
