Fast Pitch Softball playoffs:

Picayune 6-6-1 West Jones 4-7-11

West Jones took Games 2 and 3 on Saturday to win their best of three series with Picayune in Round 1 of the Class 5A softball playoffs.

In Friday’s win in Game 1 at home, Picayune scored all six runs in the 2nd inning and held off the Mustangs 6-4.

Paige Dawsey had a bases clearing double; Aliciana Carter drove in a run with a double. Morgan Dickerson and Sarah Stockstill had RBI singles.

On Saturday, West Jones won a back and forth Game 2 by a score of 7-6. Dawsey had three hits. Rianna McNeely, Brooke Breaux, and Kylie Burnette each had two hits.

Game 3 was all West Jones offensively as the Mustangs scored seven runs in the first two innings and Picayune was unable to get their offense un-tracked.

Picayune finishes the season with a record of 11-17 and the future looks very bright as the Maroon Tide returns the entire roster except for two seniors.
