Maroon Tide beats Oak Grove twice to stay ready for playoffs
With a bye week in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs, Picayune Head Coach Cody Stogner wanted to keep his Maroon Tide baseball team playing and was able to schedule two games with Class 6A Oak Grove, who was also on a bye week after winning their district to qualify as a one seed.
Picayune swept the Warriors winning on Tuesday at Picayune by a 7-4 score by and on Saturday at Oak Grove 10-7 .
On Tuesday, Logan Ledet turned in another strong pitching performance for Picayune going 6 plus innings to get the win. Kade Turnage, Chad “The Cobra” Stockstill, and Juvonte Raymond each had two hits for the Maroon Tide.

On Saturday, Trey Wells got the win on the mound for the Maroon Tide. Turnage had a 3 run home run and The Cobra (Stockstill) had a two-run round tripper. Jakail Myers added a two-run double for Picayune (15-9).
The Maroon Tide will open the playoffs at home on Thursday at 7:00 pm in Game 1 of a best of 3 series against the winner of the Stone-Natchez series.
