Pearl River men's basketball adds two signees
POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River men’s basketball team has gained two key additions with the signatures of Lanier’s Earl Smith and Clinton’s Kolby Moore, coach Chris Oney announced Monday.
Smith and Moore will add immediate punch to the lineup as the Wildcats look to defend their Region XXIII Title in 2019-20.
Smith helped lead Lanier to the Class 4A State Championship game this past season, averaging 19.5 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game. Smith was also a Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen selection.
“Earl goes with our theme for this year’s class which is versatility,” Oney said. “He can play and guard multiple positions and that’s something we have aimed for in this class. He was highly touted and we expect him to be an impact player.”
Smith was recently named All-State by the Clarion-Ledger.
Moore also led Clinton on a deep postseason run, scoring 10.5 points per game and hauling in 4.5 rebounds per game in his senior season.
