Schedules set for Region XXIII Tournaments

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River’s basketball programs now know their Region XXIII Tournament fates.

The Lady Wildcats (16-8 overall) will open against Co-Lin (20-6) at 1 p.m. Tuesday, while the No. 15 Wildcats (22-3) will play at 5 p.m. Wednesday against Northeast (19-6).

Tuesday will mark the third time PRCC and South Division foe Co-Lin have faced off this season. The Lady Wildcats won a thriller 57-54 in their MACJC opener before falling at Co-Lin later in the season.

The Wildcats and Tigers are meeting for the first time in 2018-19. PRCC spent all season in the NJCAA Top 25; Northeast made a brief appearance in the rankings at No. 23 early last month but were otherwise in the “receiving votes” category for most of the season.

Although Wednesday will mark the first time the Tigers and Wildcats meet this season, the two tangled in the Region XXIII Tournament a year ago with PRCC pulling out an 86-79 victory.
