Maroon Tide falls to talented Forest Hill 65-53

Jackson—Picayune played two solid quarters of basketball against Forest Hill, but the Maroon Tide could not hold off the Patriots and lost 65-53 in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A boys playoffs.

Picayune led 17-11 after the first quarter and 32-26 at the half, but the Patriots went on a 9-0 run in the last three minutes of the third quarter to build a 46-41 lead. The Maroon Tide could not any breaks to go their way in the quarter and In the last period, Forest Hill added 7-0 run to pull away.

Marvun Arnold (pictured above), played the last game of his career for the Maroon Tide, had 18 points and 10 rebounds. KobeJones added 15 points including 3 three pointers. Sergio Williams chipped in 10 points for Picayune (20-12). Picayune’s Montana Hammond also played his last game for Picayune and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Dandy Dozen selection Keondre Montgomery poured in 35 points (24 in the second half) for Forest Hill (24-7) and the Patriots other Dandy Dozen selection, Ken Evans, Jr. scored 10 points.
