Traffic stop leads to arrest of two local men

The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department’s Narcotics Unit made two arrests during a traffic stop on January 29, 2019, according to a press release from Sheriff David Allison.

Allison states that at approximately 1:50 p.m. on the said date, investigators conducted the traffic stop near the intersection of Hwy 11 and Jackson Landing Road. After smelling the odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Investigators had the driver of the vehicle, identified as Harley R. Robinson (right below), age 44, of Preacher Hill Road, Apt B, Picayune, MS and the passenger, identified as John K. Whitney (left below), age 30, of 162 Bluebird Lane, Picayune, MS, exit the vehicle for a probable cause search of their person and vehicle.

Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, investigators located a personal use amount of Marijuana and a felony amount of methamphetamine on Whitney’s person.

Sheriff Allison’s press release stated that Whitney and Robinson were placed under arrest and transported to the Pearl River County Jail. Robinson was charged with improper turn failure to signal and possession of Marijuana by operator of a motor vehicle. Whitney was charged with possession of Methamphetamine and a probation warrant for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
