Pearl River rodeo eager to start spring season
POPLARVILLE, Miss — The Pearl River rodeo team is ready to start its spring season Thursday when the Wildcats compete in the East Mississippi rodeo event being held in Meridian.
PRCC coach Robbie Shaw is happy to see his team well rested and healthy compared to where they were in the fall.
"As far as injuries that we had last semester, we are back to full strength with the exception of one who is out for the year so we are obviously very happy about that," Shaw said. "Everyone is ready to get back on the road and get going."

Although PRCC lost sophomore standout Carli Hodges (Summerdale, Ala.) to transfer at the winter break, Shaw is excited to have Nick Gonzales (Carriere; Pearl River Central), Rayne Royals (Purvis), and Kaleigh Graham (Petal) back to lead the team this spring.
"I think these freshmen who came in last semester will do a lot better because they have got that experience now and they know what is expected," Shaw said. "They have been putting the work in."
The East Mississippi rodeo event marks the first of four spring events.
The second will be at the University of Arkansas-Monticello on March 28, the third will be at the University of Tennessee-Martin on April 11, and the final event of the season will be held at Northwest on April 25.
