Three arrested during search warrant
A press release from Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Dustin Moeller said that the Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at 970 Shirley Drive on February 4, 2019, at around 5:00pm after the Police Department had received several community complaints of alleged illegal narcotic distribution.
When the Detectives arrived at the residence, they made addressed the residence and immediately smelled a strong odor of what appeared to be Marijuana throughout the residence. Detectives located a suspect in the master bedroom who was identified as James Darren Lee,Jr., age 21, of the same address (970 Shirley Drive, Picayune, MS) and they also found two additional suspects identified as James Darren Lee, Sr, age 49, of same address, and Wendy Marie Lee, age 39, of same address.
According to Moeller’s press release, the Detectives conducted a further search of the residence and they located multiple clear plastic bags that contained a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana, several sets of small and large digital scales containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana, several clear plastic bags, several boxes of clear plastic bags, a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream container containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana, and two large vacuumed sealed bags which displayed, “Dragon’s Breath” which contained a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana throughout the master bedroom where Lee, Jr. was allegedly found. These items are commonly used to prepare, package, and distribute illegal narcotics.
A further search of the residence by the Detectives located a fully loaded AK-47 rifle, a located 4-10 shotgun, metal grinders containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana inside the master bedroom. They located a black 9mm handgun which had black tape around the grip, $383.00 of miscellaneous bills of U.S. Currency and a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana inside of the air conditioning unit. It was learned that Wendy Marie Lee was a convicted felon..
Lee, Jr. was placed under arrest for Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute While in Possession of a Firearm, Wendy Lee was placed under arrest for Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. It was learned that Lee, Sr. had an outstanding warrant held by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s office for traffic violations. All three suspects were transported to Criminal Justice Center where they were booked and incarcerated.
Upon Lee, Sr being processed into the CJC, a corrections officer allegedly located a clear plastic bag containing a white powdered substance believed to be Cocaine in his sock. Lee, Sr. was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (felony) and Introducing Contraband into a Jail Facility.
