Picayune man arrested after his car found obstructing street

A local man was arrested recently as a result of pro-active patrolling according

to a press release from Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri. On January 14, 2019, at approximately 2:13 p.m., Narcotics Division Detectives observed a green car sitting in the middle of Herrin Drive near Nutter Drive that was obstructing traffic.

Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Deri Omando Brown, age 27, of 715 South Haugh, Apartment K-87, Picayune, MS, at which time they smelled a strong odor of what appeared to be Marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was performed and detectives found a large clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana and a black digital scale containing a green leafy substance inside of a pair of Air Jordan shoes which was located in the trunk of the vehicle.

Brown was placed under arrest for Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute within 1500 feet of a Church, transported to the Criminal Justice Center, booked, and incarcerated.
