Missouri woman turns herself in along with over $100,000 in stolen cash

The Picayune Police received an unexpected call from a Missouri, woman who had stopped at the Welcome Center located on Interstate 59 located between Exits 1 and 4.

The woman, identified as Karen Faye Wahl, age 63, of 33 Big Spring Road, Florence, MO, called the Picayune Police Department on Friday, January 11, 2019, at approximately 6:39 p.m. and stated that she wanted to turn herself in for stealing money from a Wal-Mart store in Missouri.

When officers came in contact with Wahl at the Welcome Center, she gave the officers a gray purse and she said it had $100,000.00 in cash. At this time, the police officers transported the purse to the Criminal Justice Center along with Wahl.

When the money was counted, the officers found the amount to be $114,433.62. The money was tagged for evidence and secured in the evidence locker at the Criminal Justice Center.

It was learned the Wahl was wanted on a warrant from the Franklin County Missouri Sheriff’s Office and a hold was place on Wahl and she was booked and incarcerated on the warrant.
