Louisiana man arrested for drugs, including some found inside his body
Picayune Police were conducting a safety checkpoint on January 6, 2019, at approximately 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of South Beech Street and Williamsburg Road, when they came in contact with the driver of a gray GMC Sierra truck, later identified as Chad Joseph Mutz, age 28, of 11060 Highway 16 West, Amite, LA.
While the officers were speaking with Mutz, they smelled the odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle according to Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri. The officers asked Mutz to pull to the side of the road and to exit the vehicle.
Officers recovered one hand rolled cigar containing a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana from between the driver’s seat and the center console, and four hypodermic syringes in the center console. Mutz was taken into custody and transported to the Criminal Justice Center according to Magri.
At the Criminal Justice Center, a more thorough search of Mutz was conducted at which time officers located two plastic bags that contained a crystal-like substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine and three plastics bags containing a brown powdery substance believed to be Heroin. Magri said the bags were found in Mutz’s rectal area.
Mutz was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana. He was booked and incarcerated on the said charges.
