Local man arrested for possession after attempting to flee scene
Picayune Police responded to a call on December 15, 2018, at approximately 9:28 p.m concerning a suspicious person who was sitting in a parked car in front of a residence on Crosby Street near Palestine Road. When the patrol officer arrived, a white male exited the passenger side of the vehicle in an attempt to flee the scene. The officer told the suspect to stop and he complied. The officer recognized the suspect from prior contact as Shawn Michael Stockstill, age 26, of 1710 Provost Drive, Picayune.
The patrol officer advised Stockstill to put his hands on the vehicle and he concurred. Through a check on Stockstill with NCIC, it was learned that Stockstill had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
The patrol officer performed a pat-down for officer safety on Stockstill and located a two foil wrappers containing a white powdery substance believed to be Heroin and a syringe.
Stockstill was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (felony) and Possession of Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated.
