Two Wildcats named Scholar All-Americans

POPLARVILLE – Two more Pearl River soccer standouts picked up national honors Wednesday (Dec 12, 2018).

Defender Andrew Elkins (Bay St. Louis; St. Stanislaus) was named to the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Men’s Scholar All-America First Team, with forward Bo Bowman (Bay St. Louis; Bay) landing on USC’s second team.

The honor comes a week after forward Jevaun Ennis (Maypen, Jamaica) was named to the USC’s All-South Region squad.

“I’m incredibly proud of Bo and Andrew,” PRCC coach Drew Gallant said. “They exemplify what it means to be student athletes. Not only were they key to our success on the field this year, but they also went above and beyond in the classroom.

“Whoever signs them will be getting complete student athletes.”

Elkins, who is majoring in Business Administration, earned a 4.0 GPA this semester, while Bowman earned a 3.5 while pursuing a Business degree.

The honor is just the latest for both Bowman and Elkins.

Bowman scored 10 goals and four assists as a sophomore this season for the Wildcats and earned a spot on the All-MACJC team and was selected to play in the MACJC Sophomore All-Star Game.

Elkins, who transferred to PRCC following a year at Mississippi College, helped to form one of the more formidable centerback pairings in the league and even got in on the attack, registering a goal and two assists. He also earned a roster spot in the all-star game.
