PRCSO reports multiple arrests

On October 24, 2018, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department’s Patrol Division and Investigators with the Narcotic’s Unit, executed a search warrant at #87 Lawson Taylor Road in Picayune after receiving numerous complaints about suspected drug activity at the residence.

Upon arriving to execute the search warrant, Investigators located Michael Burnette, age 47, of the same address and Wanda Bishop, #26 Deer Lane, Picayune, MS,and other individuals in the front yard of the residence. During the search, Investigators located several large knives, which Burnette and Bishop were prohibited from possessing. They also found items associated with distribution of a controlled subject and drug paraphernalia.

Bishop and Burnette were transported to the Pearl River County Jail where they were both charged with three counts of Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Burnette, who was out on a bond for Grand Larceny, had his bond revoked. While incarcerated, Bishop was served with a warrant for the Sale of Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Sell Methamphetamine, and Transfer of Methamphetamine.

On November 2, 2018, Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit were on routine criminal patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup truck at the intersection of Hwy 43 North and Tribble Lane in Picayune for a child restraint violation.

Upon making contact with the two passengers, identified as Matthew King, age 34, of #68 Broadridge Drive, Carriere, MS, and Savannah Miller, age 31, of the same address, were found to have felony warrants through the Mississippi Department Corrections (MDOC) . They were taken into custody and transported to the Pearl River County Jail where they were placed with a hold from MDOC. The driver of the vehicle was given a warning for child restraint. It was learned through investigation that the driver had picked up the two passengers earlier and the child seat was moved to the back of the vehicle to allow all of them to be seated in the vehicle.

On November 8, 2018, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit received information that a wanted white female was staying at 1007 Cayten Street, Apt #3, Picayune. The suspect was identified as Jamie Mitchell of Meridian, MS. She was wanted for absconding from drug court in Newton County,MS.

The Investigators drove to the address, came in contact with Mitchell, took her into custody, and transported her to the Pearl River County where she is awaiting extradition back to Newton County.
