Pearl River's Brandon Rachal named MACJC Player of the Week

POPLARVILLE— Pearl River sophomore Brandon Rachal (Natchitoches, La.; Natchitoches Central) has been named the MACJC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

The LSU transfer had a stellar all-around game off the bench last week in the No. 20 Wildcats' 103-71 win at Bishop State.

Rachal converted 10 of 12 shots from the floor, all three 3-point attempts and both free throws to lead PRCC (3-0) with 25 points. He also pulled in nine rebounds and collected four assists, three steals and two blocks.

Through three games this year, Rachal is averaging a team-best 17.7 points per game while shooting 55.3 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from 3-point range. He has also racked up 21 rebounds, 15 assists, 11 steals and two blocks.

PRCC is fresh off of a 95-60 victory over William Carey's junior varsity and will host Louisiana Christian Prep on Thursday. Tip at Marvin R. White Coliseum is at 7 p.m.
