Arrest made after vehicle observed speeding down Rosa Street

On September 18, 2018, at around 10:00 pm, Picayune Police Narcotics Division, along with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, were conducting proactive patrols when they observed a red Cadillac CTS traveling eastbound on Rosa Street at a high rate of speed as well as traveling in the middle of the roadway according to a press release from Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Magri.

At this time, detectives were able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on Davis Street near Weems Street for a traffic violation for Careless Driving. When the detectives approached the vehicle, they requested a valid driver’s license from the driver and valid identification card from the passenger of the vehicle.

The driver and passenger exited the vehicle and the passenger, identified as Jamile Damario Reynolds, age 38, of 220 Jarrell Street, Picayune, allegedly threw a plastic White Owl cigar wrapper on the roadway. The press release states that detectives recovered the cigar wrapper and found that it contained two clear plastic bags containing an off-white rock like substance believed to be crack cocaine.

Reynolds was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony) and Littering. The driver was released at the scene with a citation for Careless Driving. Reynolds was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated.
