Man threatens to jump off balcony at motel
On August 25th at around 7:51 a.m. , Picayune Police Department was dispatched to a local motel on Cooper Road in response to a male subject causing a disturbance and attempting to jump off the balcony of the motel and then the subject went into a room according to Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri.
When the officers arrived, they were able to locate the room the subject went into after the disturbance, knocked on the door, and made contact with the suspect identified as Thomas Joseph-Daniel Bowers, age 27, of 1801 Hwy 11 South, Lot 64, Picayune. Officers said there were several other people in the room with Bowers.
While speaking to Bowers, officers noticed that he appeared to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic and was displaying erratic behavior. Officers conducted a safety pat-down on Bowers and removed a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and observed a clear plastic bag sticking out of the top of the cigarette pack that contain a crystal-like substance that appeared to be Crystal Methamphetamine. Upon a further search of the cigarette pack, officers discovered a gum wrapper that contained a brown powdery substance believed to be heroin.
At this time, Bowers was arrested, transported to the Criminal Justice Center, booked on two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (felony), and incarcerated according to Magri.
