Local man arrested at local motel
The Picayune Police Narcotics Division executed a search warrant on a room at a local motel on August 28th at around 8:48 a.m. due to complaints of alleged distribution of illegal narcotics according to a press release from Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri . Upon making entry to the motel room, Detectives immediately smelled a strong odor of what appeared to be Marijuana in the room.
Detectives made contact with the suspect, identified as 23 year old Eric Deshawn Raymond Vaughn, also known as “Big E”, of 616 Richard Street, Picayune. Vaughn was asleep on the bed with Rena Katherine Nasya Martin-Bolden and a 2 year old female juvenile according to Magri .
At this time, Detectives conducted a search of the room and located a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be Hydroponic Marijuana and a black digital scale containing a green leafy substance on the night stand by the bed. Detectives also found a loaded ,gold .22 caliber revolver in the night stand.
Vaughn was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute While in Possession of a Firearm and Child Abuse (Felony-Child in the Presence of Drugs) according to Magri .
Vaught was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated. Bolden and the juvenile were released on the scene at which time Child Protective Services were notified.
