Pearl River set to open football season against Itawamba
The start of the 2018 MACJC football season is just days away.
Pearl River Community College and coach Ted Egger will kick off the season Thursday with a home opener against Itawamba Community College. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
Egger, who led the Wildcats to a 5-4 record last year in his debut, is confident his team is up for the challenge of facing an Indians squad that is ranked No. 16 in the NJCAA preseason poll.
"I think we're where we need to be going into ICC," Egger said. "We just have a few things we have to clean up. After seeing them during the 'Meet The Wildcats' scrimmage, I think we are starting to see that confidence that we need to have a successful season."
PRCC OFFENSE
Even with quarterback Markevion Quinn (Ruleville; Ruleville Central) transferring to Memphis during the summer, Egger is confident in his quarterback position. The Wildcats have rotated former Harrison Central QB Tavis Williams (Gulfport; Harrison Central) and Missouri prep standout Cooper Callis (Jackson, Missouri) throughout preseason camp.
