Hancock scores late TD to beat PRC 10-7


Carriere-- Hancock scored a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to beat a tough Pearl River Central squad 10-7 on Friday night in the season opener at Carriere.

After a scoreless first quarter, senior fullback Kobe Whitehead scored on a 1-yard touchdown run that gave PRC a 7-0 lead in the second quarter.

Hancock’s Austin Hyde kicked a 34-yard field goal midway through the third quarter to make it 7-3.

Blake Comeaux’s 6 yard TD run with 8:21 in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference for Hancock.

Whitehead paced the PRC rushing attack with 18 carries for 98 yards.

Pearl River Central will host Poplarville on Friday at Kenneth L. Hendrix Stadium.
