Eric Vianney, an assistant coach on the Picayune Maroon Tide varsity basketball coaching staff the past two seasons, will now take over as the head coach after being approved by the Picayune School Board of Trustees in Tuesday's meeting.
Vianney was humbled about the opportunity to be the head coach at Picayune.
"It's a privilege to be the head coach here at Picayune. I played here and it's a very special place," Coach Vianney shared.
Vianney was clear on his focus after being named to the helm.
"I want to get the program back to where it used to be."

Vianney had a successful senior campaign as a player for the Maroon Tide helping the team to a 31-4 record and the Class 5A South State Championship in 2005 for Coach Dean Shaw.
After finishing at Picayune, Vianney chose to attend Illinois State on a full basketball scholarship, then transferred to Tulane after one season and played three years at Tulane while earning a degree in Computer Information Systems.
