Six arrested in regards to same residence

According to a press release from Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri, six people were arrested in connection to a residence at 1716 Adcox Road in Picayune.

Magri stated in the release that on July 27th at around 8:12 p.m., Picayune Police Narcotics Division and the Picayune Police Criminal Investigations Division was conducting proactive patrolling when the observed a 1999 beige Nissan leave the residence at 1716 Adcox Road with no headlights on. Detectives observed the vehicle traveling west on Laird Street when the headlights came on and shortly after they observed the vehicle leave the roadway several times. At this time, they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle near Highway 11 North and Highway 43 North, but the vehicle would not stop. Detectives pursued the vehicle east on Highway 43 North and the vehicle turned into a local business parking lot.

According to Magri, the pursuit continued through the parking lot at the business for several minutes at a low rate of speed. The driver eventually drove his vehicle to the rear of the business and came to an abrupt stop. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as James Scott Jarrell, age 52, of 8 B Heartwood Place, Hattiesburg, MS. Jarrell was observed trying to destroy evidence by placing a small plastic bag in his mouth. Jarrell then became combative and he was tased. Magri said Jarrell was placed under arrest for Tampering with Physical Evidence, No Headlights, No Insurance, Failure to Yield When Officer Signals, and Disorderly Conduct Failure to Comply. Jarrell was transported to the Criminal Justice Center where he was booked and incarcerated.

At this time, Magri said Detectives and Patrol Officers went back to the residence on Adcox Road where they came in contact with Jason Allen Treat, age 46, of 310 Vaughn Street, Picayune; Wallace Junior Bailey, age 48, of1028 Beacham Hill Road, Magnolia, MS; Thomas Nathan “Kojak” Dodd, age 55, 697 B. Cedar Grove Avenue, Picayune; Clayton Boyd Mitchell, age 57, of the residence address; and Denise Jean Lossett, age 57, of the residence address who were all near a shed in the back yard of the residence.

On the floor of the shed, officers observed a clear plastic bag containing a crystal substance believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine, and a broken glass pipe containing a burnt residue believed to be Crystal Methamphetamine. Also found at the scene was 8 white pills believed to be Norco, 10 milligrams (Schedule II) inside a red bag in Lossett’s purse.

Treat, Bailey, Dodd, Mitchell, and Lossett were placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled (felony), transported to the Criminal Justice Center, booked, and incarcerated according to Magri’s press release.
