POPLARVILLE – The first 120 minutes of fall camp are in the books. The Pearl River Community College Wildcats officially started their march toward the Aug. 30 season opener Monday afternoon with a two-hour practice inside Dobie Holden Stadium.
"I thought it was everything we expected it to be," head coach Ted Egger said. "The kids are excited to be here and it was fun to just get going with football and get going toward our goal, which is to be 1-0 after Game 1."

The Wildcats have a couple main objectives heading into fall camp. For starters, Egger wants to establish a firm foundation for his staff to build on as the season nears.

"We want to get better every day," he said. "We throw a lot at them, but at the same time we're trying to improve a few things and then add as you go.
"I think we'll be there. The great thing is we have some smart football players. They're retaining information well and they're coachable. We have some great kids and I'm excited about that."

The Wildcats have a handful of position battles that will carry on throughout fall camp. Egger hopes not only can the Wildcats find their starters as a result, but he's optimistic PRCC can build reliable depth in the process.

"We have a lot of young guys who are fighting for positions and that's a good thing," he said. "I think we're deeper than we have been, so I'm excited about that.
"We have to be deep at every position, so that's something we have to continue to work toward. That's going to come with winning football games and being successful."
PRCC will officially reveal the 2018 squad at Meet the Wildcats on Thursday, Aug. 23, before opening the 2018 season a week later at home against Itawamba. Kickoff for the opener is set for 6 p.m.
