A Nicholson man was killed Monday morning after being hit by a train
A Nicholson man was killed Monday morning around 8:30am when he was struck by a northbound Amtrak passenger train, Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said.
Colton Hall, age 20, of River Road in Nicholson, was walking northbound along side the railroad tracks and listening to music through headphones. Family members told Turnage that Hall was known to listen to music at a very high volume and apparently was doing so when he was struck by the Amtrak passenger train.
Turnage stated that the engineer of the train repeatedly tried to alert Hall with the train’s horn, but he was unsuccessful in getting Hall’s attention. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred just south of the area of Jackson Landing Road and Cliff Mitchell Road in Nicholson.
