Pearl River County Coroner Derek told WRJW News that a head-on collision in the Savannah community around midnight Friday on Highway 53 caused four fatalities including three children under the age of twelve and an adult.
As of early this morning, Turnage said that he was in the process of notifying the next of kin.
The driver of one of the vehicles is in critical condition and her adult passenger died on impact. Another child in the car was airlifted.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a hospital, and according to Turnage, was also in critical condition.
Turnage said he wanted to personally thank and praise the presence and efforts of our local first responders during this difficult scene at the accident.
Turnage said, “I think every fire department in the county had someone there. I just want the community know, that from my perspective, they are absolutely the best.”
